CatMax "Digital to Print" Exhibit

This was the first exhibit that I had ever put on by myself and honestly I didn't realize how much work it was going to be for me, but somehow with the help from my parents and my husband we made it happen.

One of the hardest decision was deciding what work I was going to display and as I went through hard drive after hard drive of images I decided I wanted this exhibit to tell the story of the journey that I have taken with my photography from start to finish. I didn't include the images of my Barbie dolls or Cabbage Patch kids that I use to take pictures of when I was a child, but I did start with the image that changed everything for me, yes I am talking about the spider. Frank Mullen took the time to show me a few things on my camera to make that spider look just how I saw it in my head, it was at that moment I had to have more. I then prepared to quit my job in accounting to go to school to become a professional photographer. The images in the exhibit spanned from photo shoots before, during and after I graduated from the Commercial Photography program at Gwinnett Technical College. Once we had everything matted, framed and hanging on the walls inside Chocolate Perks Coffee Shop and Cafe I stood back and had the strangest feeling come over me...all I could say is wow! Everything I had been through, everything I had learned and everything I had wanted to be was hanging right in front of me. It was an amazing feeling to say the least.

I am currently looking for a place to showcase this exhibit in Atlanta and will make a blog post as soon as I find a location and date.

CatMax's "Digital to Print" Exhibit

Hey guys and gals! In the past three years I have had the opportunity to shoot some pretty cool events, I decided why not put some of them to print. This day and age it blows me away how many images I take that never make it to a print with everything being so web based. I am excited to print some of my favorites to share with you guys.

The night will also include music from the talented JoLee as well as some raffle give aways that will include a framed and matted print. I hope you can all make it!

Alicia Art Showing...

I am so lucky to be surrounded by such talented people. One of my good friends Alicia recently had her work hanging in a local coffee shop. Each of her pieces of Cherokee Indian mosaics take a lot of time and hard work and I am so proud whenever she is able to share that with the public!

High School Basketball

It was interesting to step back into my high school days and cover high school basketball with two of the biggest rivals in Gwinnett County, Duluth vs. Norcross. I was a Norcross Blue Devil myself and although I never played basketball I remember attending the games with Blue Devil Spirit. Lonely Shroom!

I am always fascinated by the things that pop up around my house, this time it was a lonely mushroom. As soon as I drove down the driveway I saw him. I couldn't get in the house to grab my camera fast enough. I miss those days where I would just go out and find something interesting to shoot, so when something conveniently shows up on my lawn I have to stop everything and take advantage of it. These are a couple of my favorites and I have a felling I will be doing more "out of the CatMax norm" photography soon, stay tuned....
