Stone Mountain Chili Cook-Off...

The 30th Annual Stone Mountain Chili Cook-Off was packed with chili lovers despite the rain. Every year it blows me away how much people put into their presentation. I personally had three favorites on presentation alone...The Pirate Ship Chili, Trailer Park Chili and the Outhouse Chili. The chili smelled so good, I will be making some this week for sure. Throughout the day cover bands played and there were games going on all around the event, such a great event for the whole family!More photos at MetroMix!

The BIG Rock Out...

I had the opportunity to shoot a very different event, The Big Rock Out! It was a boxing event paired with bands performing. Boxing is something I have never even seen in person, so it was a new experience for me. Those guys weren’t playing around and all I could hear was the Rocky theme song playing in my head. Cowboy Mouth was one of the bands that perform. This was the second time I had seen and photographed them and as always they put on an action packed show.

Dating In The Dark with Star94...

The Cindy and Ray show on Star94 grabbed up sixteen single men and sixteen single women and decided to try this "Dating in the Dark" thing. It was a little different from the show on TV. In this date the guys and girls would go through the Dialog In The Dark museum, located in Atlantic Station. They would not get to see one another until the end of the museum. At the end they wrote down names of people that they wanted to learn more about and there were about four couples that choose each other. Afterwards, they had an after party were everyone seemed to really enjoy meeting all the new people that they had literally just bumped into in the Museum.

They will be doing this every month so if you are single and want to try this out CLICK HERE for all the details.

Perez Hilton Presents...

Perez Hilton? Who? I wasn’t really sure who this guy was, but after his name and even face popped in front of me several times in one week I figured I needed to find out a little more. He is a guy that has made his way by blogging about the celebs, pretty crazy, right? He currently has put together the “Perez Hilton Presents” tour. I wasn’t real sure what I was getting myself into as I headed down to the Variety Playhouse, but when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. The bands that performed here in Atlanta were Semi Precious Weapons, Ida Maria and Ladyhawke…all of which I was impressed with. Perez Hilton hung out in the crowd as the bands played and in between took pictures with his fans. Although I was a little hesitant when I was first assigned to cover this event, it turned out to be something I was glad I didn’t miss!

Murderous Intellectuals by Jonathan Maxwell...

My brother-in-law spoke about his recently released book at Twain's for the Decatur Book Festival recently. His new book "Murderous Intellectuals" is a nonfiction book about the German Elites and The Nazi SS. He spoke very well about what brought on the writing of such a book, which was very interesting. There are talks about him touring the book in Germany. Be sure to look for this book in Barnes and Noble in November. I think he has found his niche.

He is currently published by Millennial Mind Publishing and is represented by a New York agent where they are working to publish two more books. This is not the last you have seen of Jonathan Maxwell.
"Jonathan Maxwell's compelling readable book takes the reader inside Nazi Germany on many different levels. The book provides a portrait of a people and a country in continuous flux, from the events that led to Hitler's popularity, to the Hitler Youth movement, to the embrace of national socialism, to Hitler's warped inner circle. A fine piece of work, Maxwell's book will appeal to general readers interested in the inherent drama of Hitler's unnerving rise to power and his subsequent apocalyptic fall."
-Jean Sasson, New York Times bestselling author

The book is available for pre-sale by e-mailing me at catmax55@mac.com.

Drive-In Invasion 2009!!

This was my first year attending the "Drive-In Invasion" at the Starlight Six Drive-In and it will not be my last. The eleventh year of this event was full of so much cool stuff going on...hot rods, music, camping, B Movies, etc. When first arriving it felt as though I had stepped back in time, there were pin-up style girls walking around and greaser type guys, I LOVED IT! Then there were all the vintage cars, vans, trailers, motorcycles you could dream of. I proceeded to walk toward the music and when I got to the stage it was packed. There was a guy in a suit singing rockabilly and another guy playing the stand up bass, it was awesome! I didn't get to stay for the movies, but I hear they play B movies until four in the morning. I can't wait to go next year, camp out and enjoy the entire day and night!

6th Annual Smyrna Beerfest...

Smyrna put on their 6th Annual Beerfest this year and it was a big success. People came and enjoyed all the beer samples they could handle for $35. Lots of the people were decked out in their college football attire being that it was the first game for UGA. The cutest thing was the dogs that were there that were showing there team spirit. It was a fun day for all who came out.
