I recently watched "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco By Sam Jones" and gained a lot more respect then I already had for these talented musicians. I have always enjoyed Wilco's music, but last summer a good friend invited me to their show at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The stage was absolutely beautiful. It was my favorite stage by far that I have ever seen at a show and one that will always stand out to me. If you get a chance check out some of the YouTube videos from the Cobb Energy show on September 28th. The music at the show sounded nothing less then perfect. Nels Cline had my attention for most of the show, his guitar playing is so precise and full of life. Jeff Tweedy's lyrics at times were haunting and you could feel that as the sounds of his voice circled around the room. The documentry allows fans to see what goes into making a record like "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". It was an eye opener for me and interesting to see how the whole process came together. "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was made before their latest record, "The Whole Love". With this record, Wilco has taken a great leap forward. I hope to see a documentary on this album as it is aggressively becoming my favorite record by the band. I have added a couple of my favorite videos below, enjoy.

The Warren hosted a truck show of Sarah Caudel best work. Sarah is the owner and founder of Dixie Pin-Up where she transforms her clients into beautiful models from the 40's. She also creates some amazing head and hair accessories that she had at the trunk show. Other items at the event were her signature matching aprons for mommy and daughter. The show was a big success with almost all the items sold at the end of the night.

I had the honor of capturing Catherine and Andrew's wedding at the Georgian Terrace on November 5th. Catherine modeled for me while I was going through photography school and has always been a big supporter of CatMax Photography. When I received Catherine's call from asking me to cover her wedding I was so happy for her! Catherine put together such a beautiful wedding for her and Andrew and I am so glad I was able to capture moments that they will share for years to come.

Guns n' Roses and Buckcherry put on a rock and roll show at the Philips Arena for their energetic fans. Most Guns and Roses fans would like to see SLASH and Axel make up and go on the road together. With that being said I was impressed with the performance by the Axel and band. They kept the fans going through a set list of thirty-eight hits including "Welcome to the Jungle", "Paradise City", "Patience" and the list goes on.

Producers of Disney on Ice, Feld Entertainment presented Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed with a $5,000 check to support efforts to add a culinary arts curriculum to his Centers of Hope recreation center initiative. The program will introduce young people to possible careers in the food and hospitality industry.

A restaurant entrepreneur herself, Princess Tiana visited Mayor Reed to give her best wishes to the Centers of Hope and the children of Atlanta that will benefit from this new program.

Princess Tiana is in Atlanta as part of Disney on Ice presents Dare to Dream. The audiences will enjoy the entire “Princess and the Frog” story of Tiana’s triumphant journey to open her own restaurant in the heart of New Orleans.

Artist and fans came out to enjoy the beautiful weather at the first annual Peachtree Music Festival sponsored by BMI. Local artist Ben Deignan brought out a crowd earlier in the day. The night came to an end with Shiny Toy Guns closing out the festival. Also, in the line-up was the band The Young Rapscallions consisting of Christopher Mintz-Plasse from the movie Superbad.

Music Midtown hasn't skipped a beat...

Although Music Midtown went on a slight four year vacation it didn't skip a beat! Fans came out and enjoyed a beautiful day in Piedmont Park filled with music, artistry, and fun! There wasn't a patch of grass to be seen in the meadow of Piedmont Park by early afternoon due to the sea of people.

The bands, WOW! Coldplay and The Black Keys were the grand finale and as always put on a great show. However, the thing I love most about festivals is finding those bands that you have never heard before. It's the best souvenir to take home a great band's music that will always remind you of that festival whenever you hear them, Young the Giant was one of those bands for me. Their sound is awesome like no other and they had the crowd moving and singing to their songs. Be sure to check out their 5GB with Eileen Tilson on Atlanta Music Guide. Also, the band Walk the Moon has made an impact on me after seeing there show and all their face panted fans. After a little research I see where the face painting came from, check out their video for "Anna Sun".

I have always wanted to shoot Music Midtown ever since the days when I was the one shoved up against the barricade to see some of my favorite bands...Godsmack, Gwen Stefani, Foo Fighters, Offspring, Kid Rock, Joan Jett, Everclear, Kanas...just to name a couple. Those day were hot, dirty, and amazing! I remember watching the photographers in the pit back then. I thought "Wow, they are capturing things that people will share for years to come. These times will never be forgotten because of them and their cameras." Frank Mullen was one of those photographers and he went on to be a mentor and friend to me. I couldn't help but think of him yesterday as I lived out a dream that I have had for years. I have shot a lot of bands, but yesterday I was shooting as one of the three photographers for Live Nation (a.k.a: house photographer). If it wasn't for Frank and a couple other amazing photographers, Chris McKay and Perry Julien I would not have been there yesterday. I have a dream and a passion and all three of them have helped to fuel that passion when things get rough and I can't thank them enough! I still have a lot of dreams in my back pocket to accomplish, but I have to say Music Midtown will always hold a very close place in my heart! Above Photo by: Perry Julien

Ludacris and Neon Trees took on the Red Bull's Soundclash in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, September 5th. Due to bad weather the event was held inside the Georgia World Congress Center. The Soundclash consisted of the following rounds...

· The Cover: each band took on their own version of Michael Jackson’s “PYT”

· The Takeover: a collaborative round where one band started playing one of their own tunes then the other group took over mid-song to finish it out with their own flair

· The Clash: challenged the bands versatility as they adapted their songs to the music genres of DJ Mick Boogie’s choice – reggae, acoustic, and metal

· The Wild Card: the final round was all about surprises as each band brought a special secret guest to the stage to perform with them. This show is all about shocking, exciting, and entertaining the crowd and our two artists did not fail to deliver. Neon Trees took the round by having dozens of “Animal” masked fans join them on stage with local hip-hop duo Big HEED and ALIen. But it was Ludacris who took things to a whole new level by having pole dancers answering the questions “How Low Can You Go” by showing the crowd they know how to do just that.

Train, Maroon 5 and Matt Nathanson sell out Georgia!

Train, Maroon 5 and Mat Nathanson played to a sold out crowd on Thursday, September 1st at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at Encore Park. Matt Nathanson entertained the crowd with a cover of "Dog Days" by Florence and the Machine. Train got the fans involved by asking a large group onto the stage to help him sing "Soul Sister" the first single from the band's latest album release "Save Me, San Francisco". Adam Lavine entertained the crowd with his good looks and energetic personality. None of the fans seem to be disappointed with any of these performances, it was a action packed show. It was nice to see the amphitheater packed out for these guys!

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Fortunately, hurricane Irene did not visit Atlanta but we had our own storm a-brewing right here at Chastain Saturday night. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals hit the stage with about as much force as any hurricane can muster. With all of her beauty, multi-instrument playing talent, a boat load of energy and power house vocals she brought a true rock and roll show and the Nocturnals did an excellent job keeping up.

The not-so-quiet before the storm was the opening act, The Wood Brothers, featuring Atlanta’s own Oliver Wood and his brother Chris. They dished up a big serving of American roots music with slide guitar and stand up bass and the audience ate it up.

Foster The People

If you haven't heard of Foster the People....you will soon. With a number of SOLD OUT shows on their tour list, this band has proven that they will be sticking around for a while. While in Atlanta they performed a few songs acoustically at the local music store Criminal Records where fans were able to meet the band and have their albums/CDs signed by the band. I had the privilege to work with Eileen Tilson of Atlanta Music Guide as she asked them the "15 Questions". You can listen to the interview and it's entirety HERE. The guys were a lot of fun and very laid back. After the interview they headed off to the Masquerade where they were playing downstairs to a sold out crowd. The crowd was so into the show dancing and singing along to each and every song. Although "Pumped up Kicks" is the only song currently being played on the radio right now, this whole album is awesome. It one of those albums that is perfect for a summertime ride in the car with the top down. If you missed this show they will be back in September, so grab your tickets now while you still can.

The W Buckhead hosted a special event for the Summer in the City book by Candice Bushnell. Candice Bushnell is best known for writing the column that would later turn into a book, TV Show and Movie called Sex in the City. All the guest came out dressed to the nines. Everyone attending the party received a copy of the book and was able to get it signed by Candice.

Rock and Ride 2011

Three Interstates, five cites, 458 riders came together on June 25th to raise money for the Grady Foundation. We began at Killer Creek Harley and rode to the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta where they had closed down the street to enjoy music from Mother's Finest, Yacht Rock Revue, LedFoot Messiah and The Pelvis Breastlies.

Emily and Robert tie the knot...

Emily has been a good friend of mine for 5 plus years and I was glad I was able to watch her grow up in front of my camera. She was always up for a photo shoot no matter how crazy. While going through photography school Emily was the bulk of my work and lucky for me my instructors didn't notice it was the same subject because she always looked different for each shoot. When Emily first introduced me to Robert I thought hmmm quite, but seemed really sweet. It was about a year later when Emily told me she was getting married. I was so happy for her as she felt like a little sister I never had. When she asked me to cover her wedding I was excited and nervous at the same time. I just wanted it to be more then perfect! Emily and Robert were married in Decatur, Alabama on Sunday, May 29th. My second shooter Danielle and I had such a good time capturing everything from the wedding rehearsal dinner to the wedding day. A couple things that truly made this wedding so special was that it all took place at her grandparent's house and her mother catered all the food for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding for two beautiful people. I am glad to call these two friends and look forward to watching their love grow through the years.

Manchester Orchestra rocked a sold out show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia on May 25th, 2011. This crowd was packed in so tight to see there favorite home town boys. It was an awesome show and the crowd made it that much better with their passion and excitement for the band.

Atlanta's Jewish Music Festival

2011 marks the first Jewish Music festival for Atlanta. The event was held at Center Stage and included such performers as The Sway Machinery, Jaffa Road, Nick Edelstein and the Grooves and Diwon.

Atlanta Magazine turns 50!

Atlanta Magazine celebrated it's 50th anniversary in the Grand Overlook Ballroom at the Atlanta History Center. Musical entertainment was provided by Francine Reed. Mayor Reed spoke at the event and allowed guests to get pictures with him. Mayor Reed has spoke at numerous events that I have shot around town. It was nice to get a moment to speak to Mayor Reed and grab a photo with him as well.

Katie & Dustin

I had such a good time hearing Katie and Dustin's story of how they met and where he proposed to her. Mosaic, the restaurant was the location where he popped the big question. I decided that Mosaic would make not only a beautiful backdrop, but held some great memories for the couple, so I wanted to include that in the photos. Below are a couple of my favorite.

Bon Jovi minus Richie Sambora...

Rock band, Bon Jovi brought their high energy show to the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on May 14th. The enthusiastic sold out crowd sang along to hits from their 23-year long career. Sambora was not present for the show as he is recovering from an alcohol addiction. The band was very supportive on stage mentioning the reason for his absence.

Coca Cola's 125th Anniversary

Coca Cola celebrated 125 years of Coke by hosting a private concert in Centennial Olympic Park for all of their employees. The concert included Natasha Bedingfield, Ne-Yo and Kelly Clarkson.

CatMax "Digital to Print" Exhibit

This was the first exhibit that I had ever put on by myself and honestly I didn't realize how much work it was going to be for me, but somehow with the help from my parents and my husband we made it happen.

One of the hardest decision was deciding what work I was going to display and as I went through hard drive after hard drive of images I decided I wanted this exhibit to tell the story of the journey that I have taken with my photography from start to finish. I didn't include the images of my Barbie dolls or Cabbage Patch kids that I use to take pictures of when I was a child, but I did start with the image that changed everything for me, yes I am talking about the spider. Frank Mullen took the time to show me a few things on my camera to make that spider look just how I saw it in my head, it was at that moment I had to have more. I then prepared to quit my job in accounting to go to school to become a professional photographer. The images in the exhibit spanned from photo shoots before, during and after I graduated from the Commercial Photography program at Gwinnett Technical College. Once we had everything matted, framed and hanging on the walls inside Chocolate Perks Coffee Shop and Cafe I stood back and had the strangest feeling come over me...all I could say is wow! Everything I had been through, everything I had learned and everything I had wanted to be was hanging right in front of me. It was an amazing feeling to say the least.

I am currently looking for a place to showcase this exhibit in Atlanta and will make a blog post as soon as I find a location and date.

Thank you to my parents, my husband, Chocolate Perks and everyone who came out to the exhibit!

This journey isn't over, stay tuned...I'm just getting started. ;)

McDonald's National Hiring Event

McDonald's held their Nation Hiring Event at all the McDonald's locations on April 19. All the locations were full of applicants looking for a good at the golden arches. Mayor Reed came out and spoke to the applicants at one of the locations.

Hey guys and gals! In the past three years I have had the opportunity to shoot some pretty cool events, I decided why not put some of them to print. This day and age it blows me away how many images I take that never make it to a print with everything being so web based. I am excited to print some of my favorites to share with you guys.
